E10 Fuel System Winterization & Storage
E10 FUEL STORAGE/WINTERIZING
The storage and winterizing of E10 ethanol blended fuel is the same for non-blended fuel. Add fuel stabilizer amount sufficient to treat full fuel tank. Adding fuel stabilizer eliminates the need to drain the fuel system or run the engine out of fuel. Fill the fuel tank(s) to 95% full to allow for fuel expansion and contraction. Finally, seal/close the tank vent if possible after winterizing the engine.
Remove the engine cowling and connect fresh water source to flushing attachment/fitting. Run the engine at fast idle for a few minutes in neutral position while supplying fresh water. Just prior to shutting off the engine, quickly spray engine fogging oil (Yamaha #LUB-STRRT-12-00 or equivalent) alternately into the intake silencer or fogging hole of the silencer cover, if equipped. When done properly, the engine will smoke excessively and almost stall. Turn off ignition and disconnect flushing attachment. Drain cooling water completely out of motor and store in upright position.
*Fogging the engine is mandatory to prevent excessive engine damage due to rust.
