Holiday Boat Parades
Tis the season for holiday boat parades! We’re always excited to get together with our friends and family to watch the boats float by in a parade!
If you’re planning to enter into a boat parade this year, use today’s blog for inspiration!
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Peanuts by Charles Schultz has been a beloved comic since its creation in 1950. Some of our favorite Charlie Brown memories are from the holidays. A Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic theme holiday boat parade attendees are sure to enjoy! Don’t know where to begin? Transform your boat into a winter wonderland complete with a small ice skating pond for Charlie Brown Snoopy and Lucy. Retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Target and Home Depot have great decorations varying from inflatable characters to brilliant string and rope lighting options. An ice rink can easily be created with blue saran wrap, a plastic baby pool and fake snow (Sold at retailers). You might also consider including a small Christmas tree with one red ornament hanging from its branches.
Frosty the Snowman
Deck your boat out in different shades of blue to create the perfect winter wonderland for Frosty the Snowman. Inflatable Frosty the Snowman characters and blue rope lighting can be purchased from various retail stores. We think adding pre-lit snowflakes throughout the boat as well as a small rink with skating penguins would look great alongside Frosty!
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
Let Rudolph guide your boat in this year’s parade! Rudolph has been a holiday classic cherished by all ages since 1939 when the story first appeared in a booklet by Robert L. May. Rudolph is Santa’s 9th reindeer and is known for leading Santa’s sleigh with his bright, red nose. The easiest way to accomplish this decorative them is to purchase inflatable or pre-lit reindeer from a retail store. Arrange the reindeer so that Rudolph is standing on the bow of the boat and the rest of the reindeer are lined up behind him. Connect the reindeer by using a white set of Christmas light and then attach it to the center console. It might be fun to have the captain of the boat dress up as Santa for the parade!
This traditional holiday theme is a simple, cost effective and a less timely option when compared to our previous ideas. A wreath and rope lighting are all that need to be purchased for this decorative theme! Outline your boat in either red or white rope lighting (Or both!). Don’t forget to also outline the center console of the boat so that it stands out at night! A wreath hanging from the front of the bow is all that is needed to complete this classic theme.
