Winter 2011 in Your Fishing Boat
While boat fishing across the north is starting to shut down, in the southern climes of the northern hemisphere and through much of the southern hemisphere, December doesn’t deter it.
So far, reports are showing that the fish are biting and it’s not the little ones, so keep your fishing boat geared up. As usual for this time of year, the Gulf of Mexico coast from Texas to the Florida Keys provides some great fishing.
Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, one report showed trout in the two- to four-pound range were being caught in abundance. Along the Texas Gulf Coast, trout also are expected to be the best fish to go after, although there was one report of a good catch of flounder and red drum in late November.
Of course, the Florida Keys continue to be a hot spot for the big fish, from Mahi Mahi to sailfish. Black fin tuna and Wahoo also are showing up in some reports.
If you’re the traditional type, the Old Farmer’s Almanac says the best fishing days for December will be the 1st through the 10th and the 24th through the 31st. For more from the almanac, go to http://www.almanac.com/best-fishing-days.
But no matter what type of angler you are, there is now a world of information out there on the Internet. You just have to decide where you want to go in your fishing boat.
Don’t forget, the best place to go for your fishing boat is your nearest EdgeWater Power Boats dealer.
