A few weeks ago we spent time on the East Coast of the United States, dining at Jim’s Dockside in Jersalueum, Rhode Island. This week we’re heading to the West Coast to dine at butterfly in San Francisco, California for cal-Asian cuisine!
butterfly is a San Francisco gem with dockside dining, live entertainment and dishes made with all organic ingredients! And you can dine for brunch, lunch or dinner!
The restaurant used to be located on Mission Street but moved to Pier 33 in the fall of 2003 for a more breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay and a larger dining space. You’ll love peering into the open kitchen to see Chef and owner Robert Lam cooking up a storm.
The San Francisco Chronicle named Robert one of 6 “Rising Star Chefs” for his ability to “shake up culinary expectations.” The Chronicle has no doubt that he will become a national name. In addition to owning butterfly, Robert also owns a second restaurant, Eastside West in the Marina district of San Francisco. While you’re in San Francisco, visit both if you can!
The house specialties at butterfly are crispy whole fried fish and kalua pig. If you’re not interested in fish or pig, try the “Loco Moco” cheeseburger with pineapple, egg, an onion ring and steak fries! They also have a highly recommended wine list! An added dining bonus is that Robert takes regular tours throughout the restaurants dining room to ensure everything is absolutely fabulous!
